There was another satisfying sale for vendors at Rangiuru on Tuesday. It was well supported by a good bench of buyers including a few from outside the region.
Reading Time: < 1 minute

Prime and R3 steers, 530-596kg, sold for $2.80-$2.84/kg. Good R2 steers, 400-452kg, made $2.90-$3/kg.

R3 heifers, 466-525kg, made similar money to the steers at $2.79-$2.86/kg.  Most of the R2 heifers were Hereford-Friesian, 342-425kg, and fetched $2.71-$2.80/kg. A number of Friesian heifers, 304-446kg, earned $2.30-$2.53/kg

Yearlings sold well, though there were few steers or bulls. Fourteen Friesian bulls, 196-211kg, returned $690-$760. Most of the R1 heifers were Hereford-Friesian, 196-228kg, and traded at $680-$830.

The boner cow market firmed on limited numbers. Friesian cows, 433-547kg, made $1.85-$1.99/kg.

It was cold and wet in the sheep yards, with an average number of buyers at the rails. There was a mixed offering of prime lambs, but the tops sold to $122, medium $83.50, light $77. A few store lambs earned $68-$72.50. Prime ewes fetched $50-$71.30 and the first small pen of ewes with lambs-at-foot managed $46 all-counted.
