He had been in the role for two years and his last day would be Friday, August 19.

Board chairman Mark Darrow said Jeffries had effectively consolidated the recently merged organisation.

Experienced education sector manager Linda Sissons, formerly of Taratahi Agricultural Training Centre and WelTec, had been appointed interim chief executive while the board recruited a new person for the Primary ITO role.

It has started advertising.

The job description says the chief executive leads 225 staff in 14 locations nationwide.

“The Primary ITO facilitates training through accredited provider and is accountable for monitoring and assessment of training quality.

"It sets education standards for approximately 290 qualifications with nearly 30,000 trainees achieving over 750,000 credits and 12,000 qualifications each year,” it says.
