Wellsford store sale 16.1

Dry conditions brought out a large yarding of cattle at Wellsford, but buying power wasn’t able to match this increase, bringing the market back on previous sales.

Two-year cattle were mainly limited to steers which made $2.54-$2.61/kg, though a few Hereford-Friesian heifers were $1135-$1140.

A decent number of heavy one-year Angus-Friesian steers made $1060-$1165, while equivalent traditional lines achieved $1140-$1250. More moderate weighted exotic-cross lines made $995-$1105. Most one-year heifers were Hereford-Friesian, making $900-$1010.

Hereford-Friesian weaner steers still sold well enough at $550-$605, though similar sized heifers only managed $460-$525. Friesian bulls at 143kg made $518-$552.
